It, um, could have gone better.
I mean, it was a good ice breaker. Oldest came with me and I’m glad I had help for setting up since it was the first time. We broke out some new display tools, so there’s a plus one for Ikea. The Helgeo, a rack that attaches to any table, was the perfect tool for the job and it extends to 8′, which was very useful.
Oldest makes jewelry and cards, and my mom does Swedish weaving and crochet, so along with my bags and weaving, there’s a LOT of variety. Maybe too much, but one of my tasks going forward is figuring out how to organize the display so it looks cohesive, rather than cluttered.
It was a Trunk or Treat event (for the non-US readers, that’s a kid-focused Halloween event) so most of the folks who came through were there with their children to get some candy and do some child-friendly crafting. They’re fun, but not usually great for sales since the grown-ups are focused elsewhere. *shrug* That was added after I signed up, so I pivoted to add the sugar skull scarves and a couple of bowls of candy.
In any case, I aim to be better prepared for my next fair (note to self: where in the world did I put my teal tablecloths?!?) and keep working on the display. But in the interest of transparency, this is where Loom Blossom started. Hey, we can only go up from here.
