Yesterday, I went into a local consignment/pre-owned clothing shop in town with Oldest Child. When we finished our purchases, OC pulled out one of the clutch shopping bags I’ve made, unsnapped and unfolded it, and started putting our stuff in there. The shopkeeper went, “That’s so cool! Where did you get that bag?”
“My mom makes them.”
I shrugged. “Oh yeah. Those are fun to make. I upcycle fun bedsheets and pillowcases from the charity shop.”
OC, realizing that I am Not Catching On, continued with “And she sells them. Do you think you’d be interested in carrying them?”
So now I need to check out my stock and write an email to the shop’s owner about stocking them with shopping bags to sell to their customers since they don’t currently supply bags. They’re a small shop, trying to be sustainable and not use plastic, and also trying to keep costs down and support local/indie businesses. Like mine, I guess!
Thank goodness for OC and their keen eye for opportunity. That’s my kid!
